Nice Copper + doped Phosphate glass bead NEW!
Size about 13mm – Weight ~ 1 . 1.4 grams – Host: Sr Phosphate glass.
Nice glass beads. Each one handmade of phosphate glass in our lab.

Copper+ doped Phosphate glass shows strong luminescence under UV light.
Under reducing conditions Cu+ Ions can be kept in the glass. They show a strong pale yellow luminescence under 365nm UV light. The picture beneath shows the same beads under daylight. The slight green blue color comes from traces of Cu2+ Ions.
